Cruise packing list

Deck days, shore days and dinner nights. A cruise asks for more kinds of clothes than most trips, and a few things the cabin does not have.

This page forgets your ticks when you close it. QuickPack keeps them, works out how many of each to bring from your dates, and reminds you before you go.

Three things to know before you pack.

  • Read the dress code

Most cruises have one or two formal nights. Check your cruise line's guide before you choose what to bring.

  • A day bag for boarding

Suitcases can reach the cabin hours after you do. Keep swimwear, medicine, documents and a change of clothes with you.

  • Leave the iron at home

Most cruise lines do not allow irons or clothes steamers in cabins. Pack clothes that do not crease, or use the ship's laundry.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a passport for a cruise?

For most cruises that visit another country, yes, and it is the safest thing to carry even where a cruise line accepts other ID. Check the rule for your route with the cruise line.

What should I bring for seasickness?

Motion sickness pills are the usual choice, and they work best taken before you feel unwell. A cabin in the middle of the ship, on a low deck, moves the least.
